Minycardita sectilis
Taxonomy
Minycardita sectilis was named by Hoare and Plas (2003). Its type specimen is UI x8885, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is UCMP D-5252, Lookout Hill, Southern Arrow Canyon Range, which is in an Artinskian shallow subtidal limestone in the Bird Spring Formation of Nevada. It is the type species of Minycardita.

Description.—Small (4 mm long not including rostrum; slightly swollen body extends anteriorly into snout with shallow concavity; primary carina not prominent; 15–16 radial costae on body and snout; rostral face with smooth outer layer, concave between primary carina and midline junction beneath rostrum; rostrum subcircular, length unknown; rostral clefts prominent; anterior gape elongate, narrowing posteriorly, denticulate; posterior ventral opening small, subcircular; portion of larval shell preserved. |
