Ainiktozoon was named by Scourfield (1937) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Ainiktozoon loganense.

It was assigned to Problematica by Sepkoski (2002); and to Thylacocephala by Schram (2014).
