Ancientia was named by Ross (1967) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-l O Ashg-m. Note this is a mis-spelling of the problematica genus Ancientia. Both Sepkoski and later authors (such as Robert Frey) spelled it incorrectly in published articles as Ancienta, so maintaining this "alternate" spelling in the Paleobiology Database.]. It is not extant.
