Taxonomy
Platyceras (Orthonychia) subrectum was named by Hall (1859) [Platyceras (Orthonychia) subrectum Hall 1860b]. It is not extant. It is the type species of Orthonychia.

It was recombined as Orthonychia subrectum by Hall (1862), Hall (1876), Hall (1879), Knight et al. (1960) and Wagner (2023).
