Taxonomy
Phragmostoma chautauquae was named by Clarke (1904) [= Bellerophon cf. striatus Hall 1843 p. 246 f. 107 not Bronn 1835, non de Ferrusac & d'Orbigny 1840]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Phragmosphaera chautauquae by Knight (1945), Rollins et al. (1971) and Wagner (2023).
