Platyceras yochelsoni

Taxonomy
Platyceras (Platyceras) yochelsoni was named by Kulas and Batten (1997) [Platyceras (Platyceras) yochelsoni Kulas & Batten 1997]. Its type specimen is UW A2898a, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is AMNH B72212a, Grinnetts Gulch, Lander, which is in a Wuchiapingian marine lime mudstone/grainstone in the Park City Formation of Wyoming.

It was recombined as Platyceras yochelsoni by Wagner (2023).

Batten 1997Thin-shelled gastropods of approximately three whorls; shell almost planispiral: all whorls coiled in contact; rapid whorl expansion rate; depressed apex; aperture subcircular; inner lip thickened and reflexed; flattened columellar lip partially covering umbilicus; hemiomphalus.

Ornament of regular, straight growth lines or weak collabral elements; rare specimens with faint, closely spaced spiral threads.
