Pseudozygopleura (Pseudozygopleura) variegata was named by Hoare and Sturgeon (1985) [Pseudozygopleura (Pseudozygopleura) variegata Hoare & Sturgeon 1985]. It is not extant.

It was recombined as Pseudozygopleura variegata by Kues and Batten (2001) and Wagner (2023).
