Taxonomy
Salpingostoma orientalis was named by Twenhofel (1928). It is not extant. Its type locality is East Cliff of the Jupiter River, mouth of Jupiter River / Jupiter Cliff, which is in an Alexandrian carbonate limestone/shale in the Jupiter Formation of Canada.

It was corrected as Salpingostoma orientale by Peel (1991).
