Strictocorniculum was named by Landing (1995) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Atda-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1127]. Its type is Strictocorniculum vanallerum. It is the type genus of Strictocorniculidae, Strictocorniculacea.

It was assigned to Problematica by Sepkoski (2002); and to Strictocorniculidae by Landing (1995) and Landing et al. (2008).

Landing 1995Unimembrate pseudoconodonts with nearly straight, gently tapering elements with circular to weakly lat-erally compressed (elliptical) cross sections and deep basal cavity that reaches nearly to tip of elements; external microsculpture of elements consists of rhomboidally arranged, apically inclined nodes.
