E. Landing and K.E. Bartowski 1996Diagnosis. -0rthothecids with 1) low, circular to elliptical operculum with subcentral apex and clavicles that radiate laterally and fuse to form a high dorsolateral lobe; 2) no cardinal processes; and 3) simple, conoidal conchs with round crosssection.

Description. -Low operculum with slightly elevated, subcentral apex and concentric growth lines; visceral surface depressed at growth center; ridge concentric to the ventral margin increases in height laterally, extends dorsolaterally, and supports a row of clavicles; fused clavicles form a high lobe at dorsal end of the clavicle rows; cardinal processes absent; conchs slightly curved, have round cross-sections and fine, transverse growth lines.
