Tryblidium exserta was named by Sardeson (1892) [Tryblidium? exserta Sardeson 1892]. It is not extant.

It was recombined as Scenella exserta by Ulrich and Scofield (1897); it was misspelled as Triblydium excertum by Sloan and Webers (1987) and Wagner (2023).
