Turbo semicostatus was named by Goldfuss (1844) [= New genus semicostatus Blodgett 1992 p. 149 - 150.]. It is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Winterbergiella semicostata by Blodgett and Frýda (1999) and Heidelberger (2001); it was recombined as Winterbergiella semicostatus by Wagner (2023).
