Murchisonia quinquecincta was named by Kjerulf (1865). It is not extant. It is the type species of Kjerulfonema.
It was recombined as Kjerulfonema quinquecincta by Peel and Yochelson (1976); it was recombined as Rhabdostropha quinquecincta by Wagner (1999) and Wagner (2023).
