Cirrus acutus was named by Sowerby (1818). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Trochus acutus by Goldfuss (1832); it was recombined as Straparolus acutus by d'Orbigny (1850); it was recombined as Euomphalus acutus by Fleming (1828) and Batten (1966).
