Taxonomy
Trochonema excavatum was named by Perner (1903) [Barrande in ]. It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Slehoferia.

It was recombined as Slehoferia excavata by Rohr and Frýda (2001); it was recombined as Slehoferia excavatum by Wagner (2023).
