Taxonomy
Euomphalus polygyratus was named by Roemer (1849). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Polygyrata polygyratus by Weller (1903); it was recombined as Polygyrata polygyrata by Bassler (1915); it was recombined as Ophileta polygyrata by Sellards et al. (1932), Dake and Bridge (1932) and Bridge and Girty (1937); it was recombined as Ophileta polygyratus by Wagner (2023).
