Taxonomy
Bellerophon gorbyi was named by Miller (1892). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Dearborn County, which is in a Richmondian marine limestone in the Dillsboro Formation of Indiana.
It was recombined as Loxobucania gorbyi by Knight (1942); it was recombined as Undulabucania gorbyi by Wahlman (1992) and Wagner (2023).
