Bellerophon llanvirnensis was named by Hicks (1875). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Oxydiscus llanvirnensis by Reed (1921); it was recombined as Modestospira llanvirnensis by Yochelson (1964) and Wagner (2023).
