Bucaniella reissi was named by Clarke (1899) [Bucaniella Reissi]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Bellerophon (Bucaniella) reissi by Reed (1904); it was recombined as Plectonotus reissi by Wagner (2023).
