Cyclonema bellula was named by Billings (1866). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Cyclonema (Cyclonema) bellulum by Peel (1977); it was corrected as Cyclonema bellulum by Twenhofel (1928), Thompson (1970) and Wagner (2017).
