Taxonomy
Cyrtolites advena was named by Perner (1903) [Cyrtolites advena Barrande in Perner 1903]. It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Neocyrtolites.

It was recombined as Cyclocyrtonella advena by Horný (1962), Horný (1963) and Frýda and Manda (1997); it was recombined as Neocyrtolites advena by Horný (1963) and Wagner (2023).
