Euomphalus manitobensis was named by Whiteaves (1890) [Euomphalus Manitobensis]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Hypomphalocirrus manitobensis by Linsley (1973); it was recombined as Omphalocirrus manitobensis by Whiteaves (1892), McCammon (1960), Ehlers and Kesling (1970) and Wagner (2023).
