Kirengella was named by Rozov (1968) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm uMid O Trem Sepkoski's reference number: 110]. It is not extant. Its type is Kirengella ayaktchica.
It was corrected as Kiringella by Runnegar and Jell (1976).
It was assigned to Palaeacmaeidae by Rozov (1968); to Scenellidae by Runnegar and Jell (1976); to Hypseloconida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Kirengellidae by Starobogatov (1970), Rozov (1975), Stinchcomb and Angeli (2002) and Ponder et al. (2020).
It was corrected as Kiringella by Runnegar and Jell (1976).
