Taxonomy
Hormotoma cannonensis was named by Stauffer (1937). It is not extant. Its type locality is Cannon Falls, which is in a Cassinian carbonate limestone in the Shakopee Formation of Minnesota.

It was recombined as Plethospira cannonensis by Wagner (1999) and Wagner (2023).
