Murchisonia (Hormotoma) lebescontei was named by Oehlert and Oehlert (1888) [Murchisonia (Hormotoma) Lebescontei Oehlert & Oehlert 1888]. It is not extant.

It was recombined as Murchisonia lebescontei by Frech (1894); it was recombined as Coelocaulus lebescontei by Wagner (2023).
