Michelia whiteavesi

Taxonomy

Hormotoma whiteavesi was named by Clarke and Ruedemann (1903). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pike's Quarry, Frost Ave & Summer St, Rochester, which is in a Homerian carbonate dolomite in the Lockport Formation of New York.

It was recombined as Michelia whiteavesi by Wagner (2023).

Synonyms

Murchisonia attenuata was named by Lindström (1884). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Hormotoma attenuata by Ulrich and Scofield (1897); it was recombined as Goniospira attenuata by Donald (1902); it was recombined as Biangularia attenuata by Xi (1997); it was recombined as Michelia attenuata by Wagner (1999); it was replaced with Michelia whiteavesi by Wagner (2023).
