Inachus catilloides was named by Conrad (1842). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Euomphalus catilloides by Raymond (1910), Raymond (1911), Mark (1912) and Bandel and Frýda (1998); it was recombined as Schizostoma catilloides by Girty (1915); it was recombined as Schizostomica catilloides by Morningstar (1922); it was recombined as Straparollus (Euomphalus) catilloides by Knight (1934); it was recombined as Straparollus (Amphiscapha) catilloides by Sturgeon (1964), Yochelson and Saunders (1967) and Kues (1984); it was recombined as Straparolus catilloides by West (1970); it was recombined as Amphiscapha catilloides by Kues and Batten (2001) and Wagner (2023).
