Straparollina cassina

Taxonomy

Lophospira cassina was named by Whitfield (1886). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is 227 - Promonotory on west end of Fort Cassin, Lake Champlain., which is in a Cassinian carbonate limestone in the Fort Cassin Formation of Vermont.

It was recombined as Straparollina cassina by Wagner (2023).

Synonyms

Lophospira dutchtownensis was named by Cullison (1938). Its type specimen is Missouri School of Mines & Metallurgy PC 7105, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Geiser Quarry, 2.1 km east of Dutchtown. Unit 2, which is in a Cassinian carbonate limestone in the Dutchtown Formation of Missouri.

It was synonymized subjectively with Straparollina cassina by Wagner (2023).
Lophospira corrugata was named by Cullison (1938). Its type specimen is Missouri School of Mines & Metallurgy PC 7107, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Geiser Quarry, 2.1 km east of Dutchtown. Unit 2, which is in a Cassinian carbonate limestone in the Dutchtown Formation of Missouri.

Lophospira grandis was named by Butts (1926). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Akpatok Island, 460’ above sea level, Ungava Bay, Hudston Strait, which is in a Richmondian carbonate limestone in the Akpatok Formation of Canada.

It was recombined as Straparollina grandis by Wagner (1999); it was synonymized subjectively with Straparollina cassina by Wagner (2023).
