Loxonema obscura was named by Portlock (1843). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Murchisonia obscura by Morris (1854), de Sowerby (1867) and Etheridge (1888); it was recombined as Cyrtostropha obscura by Donald (1902) and Wagner (2023).
