Taxonomy
Loxonema styliola was named by Hall (1876). It is not extant. Its type locality is Nichols, which is in a Frasnian marine horizon in the Chemung Formation of New York.
It was corrected as Loxonema styliolum by Clarke and Swartz (1913); it was recombined as Palaeozygopleura styliola by Linsley (1994) and Wagner (2023).
