Macluritella ornata
Taxonomy
Lytospira ornata was named by Lochman (1966) ["Lytospira" ornata]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Amerada, Herman-May No.1 Fryburg Area 13,231'-13,235' ft, which is in a Stairsian transition zone/lower shoreface limestone/shale in the Deadwood Formation of North Dakota.
It was recombined as Macluritella ornata by Wagner (2023).

Lochman 1966 | Shell small, hyperstrophic, loosely and openly coiled, less than two complete whorls; lower whorl surface is very slightly convex, upper whorl surface strongly convex but apparently without angulation; whorl crosssection asymmetrically ovate. Outer surface of whorl is crossed by low, broad, diagonal riblets separated by broad shallow furrows of the same width; narrow spiral threads cross the riblets on both upper and lower surfaces with outer edge of whorl smooth. |
