Melania antiqua was named by Goldfuss (1844). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Meekospira antiqua by Ulrich and Scofield (1897); it was recombined as Holopella antiqua by Heidelberger and Koch (2005); it was recombined as Palaeozygopleura antiqua by Wagner (2023).
