Murchisonia catharina was named by Billings (1865). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Lophospira catharina by Donald (1902); it was recombined as Pagodispira catharina by Strand (1932); it was recombined as Donaldiella catharina by Wagner (2023).
