Barskovia was named by Golubev (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: V N-Da-u Cm Atda-l Sepkoski's reference number: 522,885,1006,1030]. It is not extant. Its type is Barskovia hemisymmetrica.

It was assigned to Pelagiellidae by Golubev (1976); to Aldanellidae by Linsley and Kier (1984) and Missarzhevsky (1989); to Mollusca by Sepkoski (2002); and to Khairkhaniidae by Parkhaev (2002) and Kouchinsky et al. (2017).
