Taxonomy
Natica piligera was named by Sandberger and Sandberger (1855). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Turbonitella piligera by Holzapfel (1895) and Paeckelmann (1922); it was recombined as Hessonia piligera by Heidelberger (2001), Heidelberger and Amler (2002) and Wagner (2023).
