Taxonomy
Palaeonustus comes was named by Perner (1903) [Barrande in Perner 1903]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Area between the villages of Měňany and Koněprusy, which is in a Pragian marine horizon in the Praha Formation of the Czech Republic.

It was misspelled as Palaeonustus conus by Sapelnikov (1999); it was recombined as Pseudotectus comes by Perner (1907) and Wagner (2023).
