Pleurotomaria gradata was named by Lindström (1884). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Lophospira gradata by Ulrich and Scofield (1897); it was recombined as Oehlertia gradata by Perner (1907); it was recombined as Conotoma gradata by Wagner (1999) and Wagner (2023).
