Pleurotomaria holmi was named by Lindström (1884). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Lophospira holmi by Ulrich and Scofield (1897); it was recombined as Platyconus holmi by Perner (1907); it was recombined as Ruedemannia holmi by Wagner (1999) and Wagner (2023).
