Pleurotomaria sulcomarginata was named by Conrad (1842). It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Bembexia sulcomarginata by Ulrich and Scofield (1897), Grabau and Shimer (1909), Prosser and Kindle (1913), Fisher (1951), Ellison (1965), Rollins et al. (1971), Tassell (1982) and Blodgett et al. (1999); it was recombined as Calvibembexia sulcomarginata by Wagner (2023).
