Taxonomy
Pleurotomaria supracingulata was named by Billings (1857). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Eotomaria supracingulata by Ulrich and Scofield (1897), Wilson (1951) and Rohr (1980); it was recombined as Paraliospira supracingulata by Wagner (1999) and Wagner (2023).
