Taxonomy
Pleurotomaria tricincta was named by Goldfuss (1844). It is not a trace fossil.

It was corrected as Pleurotomaria tricinctus by Römer (1843), Whidborne (1889) and Dahmer (1926); it was recombined as Bembexia tricinctus by Whidborne (1891); it was recombined as Devonorhineoderma tricincta by Frýda (1998), Heidelberger (2001) and Wagner (2023).
