Taxonomy
Pleurotomaria trilix was named by Hall (1862). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Lophospira trilix by Ulrich and Scofield (1897) and Grabau and Shimer (1909); it was recombined as Bembexia trilix by Knight and Bridge (1944); it was recombined as Ruedemannia trilix by Campbell and Engel (1963), Rollins et al. (1971), Gubanov et al. (1995) and Wagner (2023).
