Porcaconus was named by Qian and Xiao (1984) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Tomm Sepkoski's reference number: 1006]. It is not extant. Its type is Porcaconus xinjiangensis.

It was assigned to Mollusca by Sepkoski (2002).
