Taxonomy
Raphistoma schmidti was named by Koken (1889). Its type specimen is MB Ga 2538:1, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Pararaphistoma (Pararaphistoma) schmidti by Vostokova (1955) and Ebbestad et al. (2013); it was recombined as Pararaphistoma schmidti by Yochelson (1963), Wagner (1999) and Wagner (2023).
