Taxonomy
Rhachopea typica was named by Ulrich et al. (1931) [Rhachopea typica Ulrich & Bridge in Ulrich, Foerste & Bridge 1931]. It is the type species of Rhachopea.

It was recombined as Schizopea typica by Lochman (1966), Wagner (1999) and Wagner (2023).
