Retipilina was named by Horný (1961) [Sepkoski's age data: ]. It is not extant. Its type is Pilina knighti.

It was assigned to Tryblidiinae by Horný (1963); to Tryblidiidae by Starobogatov (1970) and Runnegar and Jell (1976); and to Mollusca by Sepkoski (2002).
