Scoliostoma conoideum was named by Sandberger and Sandberger (1854). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Conchula conoideum by Perner (1907); it was recombined as Scoliostomina conoideum by Heidelberger (2001) and Wagner (2023).
