Taxonomy
Sinuites sphaeroidalis was named by Reed (1921) [Sinuites sphæroidalis Cowper Reed 1921]. It is not extant. Its type locality is Balclatchie Farm, Ayrshire, Girvan, which is in a Burrellian carbonate limestone in the Balclatchie Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Strangulites sphaeroidalis by Horný (1962) and Horný (1997).
