Girtyspira pygmaea
Taxonomy
Bulimorpha pygmaea was named by Weller (1916). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Bed No. 8, Fountain Creek, 2 miles southwest of Waterloo, which is in a Chesterian carbonate limestone in the Ste. Genevieve Formation of Illinois.
It was recombined as Girtyspira pygmaea by Knight (1936), Knight and Bridge (1944), Yochelson and Saunders (1967) and Thein and Nitecki (1974).
