Stomatia antiqua was named by Cresswell (1893). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Scalaetrochus antiquus by Chapman (1913) and Chapman (1916); it was recombined as Siluriphorus antiquus by Tassell (1976); it was recombined as Siluriphorus antiqua by Wagner (2023).
